One of the lead initiatives of SAPNA has been the construction of individual toilets in Kaduki village. The process started in 2015. The cost of each toilet was ₹ 40,000. This was part funded (₹ 10,000) by the residents. The major amount was paid by Desiccant Rotors International Pvt Ltd. 55 toilets have been constructed so far.
The project also involves sustained community advocacy against the environmental degradation caused by open-defecation, and its hazards at personal level, particularly in the case of women and girls. By focusing on hygiene education in its schools, SAPNA has initiated a lifetime of good practices for children. They remain cognizant of the fact that lack of effective waste disposal or sewerage system can contaminate ecosystems and contribute to disease pandemics.
